With the rich learning gained from our successfully hosted Annual Symposium in 2024 and it gives me great pleasure to invite you to register for the Cardiac Arrhythmia Society of Southern Africa (CASSA) Annual Clinical Symposium. The Symposium allows us to network with our colleagues, peers, and our valued industry partners, where the hope is to establish an even stronger connection with the cardiovascular community from anywhere around the country, the continent, and the world. The Symposium takes place on the 22nd of February, with a by invitation only Electrophysiologist Working Breakfast on the 23rd of February, at The Vineyard Hotel, Claremont with a programme which has attracted highly acclaimed International and Local Speakers with final details to be announced and an overarching theme of ‘Cardiac Arrhythmia Updates’. Prof Gábor SzéplakiMD, PhD, FESC, FEHRA. Head of Cardiac Electrophysiology. Hon. Clinical Associate Professor RCSI. Prof. Gábor Széplaki is the Head of Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin and Clinical Lead for the Arrhythmia Centre. He worked as a senior lecturer at the Semmelweis University before joining Mater Private Hospital, Dublin and in addition, obtained a diploma of advanced studies in cardiac arrhythmia management at the Maastricht University Medical Centre. His special interest focuses on the invasive treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, including complex ablations for atrial fibrillation or other supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias. With Prof Szeplaki`s lead the Mater Private Hospital Sublin was the first centers worldwide to start the pulsed-field ablation program in the treatment of atrial fibrillation. In addition to providing care for his patients, Prof. Széplaki is interested in clinical research and is an author or co-author of more than 100 original scientific publications and book-chapters. He is involved in several national and international scientific organisations, is a member of the Electrophysiology Certification Committee of the European Heart Rhythm Association and is a fellow member of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and the European Heart Rhythm Association (FEHRA). |

Prof Carsten IsraelCarsten W. Israel is Chief of the Dept. of Cardiology, Bethel-Clinic Bielefeld (University Hospital) since April 2009. He was consultant and Master Teacher at Frankfurt University where he worked from 1999-2009 and qualified at Bochum University, Germany in 1992 where he undertook internship and residencies. |
